Planning the perfect Craft Staycation Part 3

Now that all the major preparation is done all we need to do is gather the kits and the snacks and get ready for our Crafty Staycation!

For snacks I have the following:

  • Popcorn
  • Candy
  • Trail Mix

I am going to be making sandwiches for lunch and pasta for dinner. I will make the meals in the morning and then put them in the fridge

Planning the perfect Craft Staycation Part 2

Next up we will look at gathering relevant tools, materials and coming up with a playlist J. Music is very important for the soul, especially the creative soul and I make sure I always have some on in the background while I am crafting.

Since we already have a staycation program ready, all we have to do is go over the program and make a list of all the tools and materials we will need.

Since all my projects are mostly paper projects here are the tools and materials that I had assembled on my work table:

  • My diecutting machine complete with all dies and embossing folders
  • A few favourite stamps (I think narrowing the choice down helps one to craft, otherwise I sit for hours trying to figure out which stamp will look best. Making this decision before really helps!)Request Feedback Continue reading

Paper Flowers!

Junk Mail ATCI love to recycle items and that’s why I am an altered art fanatic! I have started cutting up junk mail, painting it and turning it into flowers. These can be used to embellish ATCs, altered books, scrapbooks and even handmade cards. Not only are they fun to make but you’re also doing your bit to save the environment while having fun! Some more Fabric ATCs

Antique Fabric ATCs
I made these fabric ATCs using some antique embroidered fabric. I absolutely love it! It si like an old patchwork quilt and no matter which way you cut it, something beautiful always makes it’s way onto your ATC. I sed very little embellishment on top as I did not want to spoil the look and feel of the original fabric!
(Fabric is available at http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=6414967 I have some more pieces available so if it says sold out let me know!)

A Creative Saturday!

dsc01037dsc01025

Since school is going to start soon I took this Saturday off as a day for “creating”! I have joined a few ATC groups recently and there was a long debate about fabric ATCs on one of them. Having read many different ways of dealing with fabric, and seen some gorgeous work done by other artists, I armed myself with fabric scraps, ribbons, beads, glue, paint, card and some needles and thread. Laying everything all around me (this is the only way I can work, in a mess =) )I picked up a piece of fabric and started. I created a collage of fabric and it was so much fun. I tried

Artist Trading Cards

Imagine

Imagine

I have been very lazy over these winter holidays and  have come to the conclusion that I need deadlines to function =). Well one way to overcome that hurdle was to join an art group. After much research I have joined an Artist Trading Card group and have just finished my first batch of ATCs using tissue paper and foam!

I strongly urge all of you out there interested in collage and mixed media to try their hand at ATCs. The Artist Trading Card Workshop be Bernie Berlin is an excellent book to get you started, but let me warn you…ATCs are extremely addictive =)…
