My Basket of Bits and Pieces

My basket full of goodies that will adorn future projects!

My basket full of goodies that will adorn future projects!

“Beauty is in the eye of the beholder”…look around you and see all the things that you throw away…surely they can be used for something!

What about the wrapping paper that you got on your birthday, or a pretty picture in a magazine, on a postcard or card! Your broken earrings or necklace (great source of beads!), bits and pieces of card, patterned paper and fabric.Wool, old calenders.Small beads, sequins and buttons.Pieces of ribbon left over from your latest craft project…even colorful sweet wrappers.

Don’t throw these things away! Put them in a box and call it your “Treasure Chest” or your “Box of Bits and Pieces”.

Maybe you can even decorate the box to look like a treasure chest! You can use all these things to make wonderful projects and you will feel very satisfied when you make something so beautiful out of “rubbish”!

Ribbons, paper, beads, sequins, old wedding cards, gift paper...

Ribbons, paper, beads, sequins, old wedding cards, gift paper...

I love reusing old and throwaway items to make beautiful new things. A broken earring is used as a charm on an altered scrapbook. Buttons from my grandmother’s shirts find their way onto a bag, old gift paper is turned into beautiful new gift bags and old scratched c.d.s become door hangers (check back tomorrow for this project!). These are just a few ideas…I am sure you have some too! If so, please share them, I would love to hear from you…
